You are my lucky star
I saw you from afar
Two lovely eyes at me
They where gleaming
I was starstruck
You’re all my lucky charm
I’m lucky in your arms
You’ve opened Heaven’s portal
Here on earth for this poor mortal
– from Singin’ in the Rain
His eyes light up. They are filled with so much love and respect and amusement that they really do twinkle.
He is an old soul, an old friend. He doesn’t totally understand why he knows this, but he knows who I really am and has trusted in that from the beginning. “I can’t explain it. There was just something in you that I recognized.” Me? I was far from home in search of a Kindred Spirit. And when I found him it was, “You! Of course. How kind of you to show up just when I need you the most.”
We don’t want to call it Fate because that sounds like an predetermined accident that we had no part in creating. But there is something just so right about us. Kindred Spirits, finding each other at the right time, moving forward in time together.
Looking across the Thanksgiving table at those twinkling eyes, I count my lucky stars.
