“A bosom friend–an intimate friend, you know–a really kindred spirit to whom I can confide my inmost soul. I’ve dreamed of meeting her all my life.” From Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
I love the concept of kindred spirits, meaning that there are people out there in the world who are your spiritual family, not really in a religious sense, but in the sense that you are somehow alike on a higher level. These are the people who get you, and you get them. There is a comfort level, an ease where you can say what you like without worrying about being misinterpreted because you’re both coming from a similar place.
When you meet one, it’s like a backrub for the soul. Aahhh….so nice.
Who knows where these folks come from. Sometimes there’s a deja vu element, maybe we’ve met before? I know you, you’re one of the good guys. Other times, it’s more like, “I don’t know where you came from, but I really like you.”
I’ve been thinking about my kindred spirits today and am grateful for each and every one. (You know who you are. I hope.)
“Kindred Spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. Its splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”
